The harvest is the culmination of a year's work, care and all the skills of the Ackerman company.
Because we are keen to combine tradition with technological progress to ensure a quality harvest, we carry out two types of harvest:
Automated harvest
The harvest takes place from September depending on the parcels and grape varieties concerned. It is carried out using cutting-edge equipment in order to preserve the qualities of the grapes. Ackerman's grape harvesters are becoming increasingly efficient, can be fine-tuned precisely, ensure optimum hygiene and respect both the vines and the grapes (the grapes are not burst, juice oxidation and phenolic and herbaceous flavours are prevented, etc.).
Hand picking
Ackerman harvests grapes by hand either because certain parcels are not suited to the use of machinery or in order to be extremely careful with grapes destined for use in special or top-of-the-range cuvées. All handling is done very carefully in order to preserve the grapes' integrity. Hand picking is reserved especially for making top-of-the-range wines, whether still or effervescent.
