Historic know-how
The recognition of Maison Ackerman’s winegrowing know-how is the result of more than two centuries of deep-rooted ties at the very heart of the Saumur vineyard, combined with a strong and lasting commitment. Vinification is largely sourced from our own vineyard (104 ha), Les Dames de la Vallée, which is managed exclusively in line with the specific requirements of fine sparkling wines – a rare approach in the region.
Its recognition among wine professionals and consumers alike, together with its dynamism and an in-house research and development unit, truly enable the House to position itself as the leading producer of Loire Valley fine sparkling wines.
Maison Ackerman embodies centuries of expertise, a DNA combining Authenticity, Conviviality and Boldness, dedicated men and women from vine to sale, an estate-owned vineyard, a research and development centre located within the vineyard itself, an oenotourism site welcoming nearly 50,000 visitors each year, state-of-the-art vinification and bottling facilities, and strong, lasting relationships with its customers and partners.
A long history of awards
Maison Ackerman boasts a long-standing tradition of awards and distinctions, initiated by a gold medal at the Angers Industrial Exhibition in 1838. In 1844, at the Paris World’s Fair, its “sparkling wine” was awarded a gold medal, winning what was then considered the “world championship of sparkling wines”. The Cuvée Royal subsequently received gold medals at the Paris exhibitions of 1855, 1889 and 1900, as well as in Calcutta (India) in 1883, Liverpool in 1886 and Brussels in 1935. This remarkable recognition was further enhanced by the development of the railway network, which the House supported and helped finance, enabling it to rapidly export its wines. Cuvée Royal was soon served on the tables of major luxury hotels, palaces, restaurants and cafés flourishing across European and international capitals. Maison Ackerman even became a supplier to the prestigious Compagnie Transatlantique.
From as early as 1860, Champagne reacted, and a series of legal proceedings followed over a period of some twenty years.
A guarantee of quality for consumers
The awards and distinctions received by our House are so many proofs and guarantees of quality, assuring our customers that the pleasure of tasting is always present, year after year.
The hundreds of medals awarded each year contribute to the awareness and recognition of the know-how behind Loire Valley wines.
